For seven months I had the distinct pleasure of being one of the lead DOPs (along with MegaStar Will Pugh) on an epic 10-part music documentary series called Rock and Roll for Sky Arts.
Spearheaded by the awesomeness that is Pulse Films, we shot all over the world to make ten sixty-plus minute films!
I filmed in the UK, LA, NYC, New Orleans, Jamaica and Berlin and the best news of all is that the first of the ten episodes airs tonight on Sky Arts at 9pm. Don’t worry if watching live TV isn’t your bag because after tonight all ten episodes will be available on Sky On Demand, NowTV and Sky GO!
I had such an amazing time filming trailblazing artists and working with some tremendous people. Special mention has to be made of Carl Hindmarch who was the series producer and directed three of the films. He is also the one who took the picture of me and Nile Rodgers above.
I also got to work with Karen McGann who was an absolute pleasure, as well as James Maycock who was also brilliant and made two great films.
Last but by no means least I have to mention my main man Sam Bridger who was the series director and if you read this blog religiously (why!?) then you’ll know that he is a frequent collaborator. His two episodes are some of my favourites and as always he was an utter joy to work with.
If you are in the UK then check it out. And for the geeks amongst you, yes it was all shot on the Alexa Mini. Very nice!
